Christmas Letter

Dear Family Member, Loved One, Friend or Somebody we know from Daddy's Work

Christmas is upon us and we are hoping that you and yours have had a wonderful year. We have much to relate and brag about as this has been an eventful year for our little family. Little Lester completed all his Merit badges and became an Eagle scout. They were real understanding and bent the rules a bit allowing his credit for Merit badges in dress making , Pattern cutting, flower arranging, theater lighting, cake decorating, window treatment design, theater make-up, cosmetology and poodle grooming, to fulfill his requirements.

Many of you probably saw on CNN earlier this year when he parachuted out of a plane over the Everglades in his Wheelchair. I thought that should have earned it for him right there. They even let his little tent-mate, Maurice push him up the ramp to get his Eagle Scout award.

Debbie Lynn was almost in the Olympics this year. She tried out for synchronized swimmer. That's those girls that all swim in rows with their hair slicked back in a bun. They told her she was real good and to try again next year if she could drop about 40 pounds.

The annual Graveyard reunion was a success and all attending raked, mowed, and ate plenty of Barbecue. Several markers that had tumped over were set upright again and Daisy pinwheels and red Geraniums from K-Mart were placed on some of the more neglected graves. As chairperson of this year's reunion, I was proud of how the new crushed shell walkways turned out.

Our boy Darrel Troy is still lookin' for work. If anybody knows of a job for somebody with his experience, please let us know. We're always home, and you can call late. We won't mind. We'll carry him over in the car to wherever or whatever it is you think he can do. It doesn't matter how far. He hasn't had any offers here in Williamson County since all that was in the papers about him, so please let us know.

Harley and Edwina Devereaux had their 50th wedding anniversary out at their son's new putt-putt golf course and party pavilion. They both are in their eighties, and were real good sports about the dunking booth that their boy Cleon had set up for them. All the guests bought chances to dunk 'em, and paid for two months of their upkeep at Olden Pines Nursing home where they reside.

MeeMaw Gladys was at church last week and it was so good to see her. She seemed to know who I was and sang all the hymns, but I did notice her dress was on backwards.

We finally got the addition to the house finished last Easter. I've had tar paper for bedroom walls for three years. That cold snap last year was awful. There was some problem with the windows that come with the kit, fittin', but all is perfect now and we're ready to start on the Car-port.

More later, but, have a Merry Christmas and remember we love you anyway. (and you know what I'm talkin' about).

Your Sister, Leona
