(Copyright SteveStickley 1997) Leona letter Junteenth Dear Sister, I am writing you this hurriedly from Dallas, where Lester and I are attending the Southern Baptist Convention. Did you see us on T.V. last night? One of our neighbors that has cable said we were on CNN and it showed us votin. We were all touched by our "Oneness in God" and our "Sameness with the Spirit" in teaching the Disney people just what we can accept and what we cannot allow in our homes. We had a hard time gettin Harla and Darla to understand just what the boycott would mean. They asked me if we were gonna burn all of their Disney videos in the bar-b-que pit when we got home. I told them that I had thought about it and decided we would put them up in the top shelf of my closet. Cause after a week or two of the boycott they are gonna be financially hurtin so bad that they will have to relent and change their policies regarding Homersexials. And see then if we had burned all the videos and stuff we would have to go out and buy all new and be givin them twice the money. A lady in the seat next to me explained that to me and it made good sense. I also bought some Amway and some Mary Kay products from her once we got to talkin. She makes Christian hair ornaments and quilted denim vests with lace and buttons and ribbons encrusted on em and Bible verses embroidered on them. She calls them "Life Vests", id'nt that cute. Just darlin, I thought. Once we got to thinkin about just what we give to the Disney people just what with our Wal-Mart purchases alone it's mind boggling. When we get home Harla and Darla have to give up most of their pajamas and over half of their underwear as it is all Disney themed. Their Minnie and Mickey toothbrushes and oh yeah ,their Goofy nightlights. The little mermaid curtains and the Pocahontas comforters will all have to be replaced. I will have to get rid of quite a few T-shirts myself. And you know over half of my good jewelry, earrings and such is Disney character jewelry that I've gotten as gifts and bought on vacation. There was mention of boycotting McDonalds too. But I think they better find out if Jack in the Box or Burger King or where ever we're gonna be goin for our hamburgers is owned by Mormons or somethin even worse before we give any money to them either. We are tryin so hard to have the girls grow up in a totally Christian environment. We don't want them to know any other religious beliefs even exist until they are Married or in college. It'll just be better for them that way. We have to make sure they never try to think for themselves until we are sure that they think just like us. I think that is only being a good Christian parent. I'm gonna have to hide the newspaper all week as it is, because they keep using the words Homosexual and Gay. The girls will be full of questions about things they just never need know about, and it's my job to protect them. Debbie Ledbetter said she asked her oldest Ralna did she know what Homosexual meant. And she said like Mr. Titmeyer the Band director? I think he's nice. Well Debbie called down to the school that day and told them they should investigate him. They said they would not base any decision on just heresy, so she called back with a disguised voice and told them that she saw him givin a kid a blow job behind the Stop-N-Go, and hung up. I guess she shouldnt have made that up but it's probably true and at least she got them to go ahead and start the investigation now. We just have to do everything we can and it's hard work being Judge, Jury, and Zookeeper for everybody else and their kids but at least it keeps our minds off our own problems. I'm sure you don't agree with a thing I've said, but we'll just see how it all turns out when your down there drinkin fire martinis in a asbestos bikini and I'm up in heaven drivin my snow white Lincoln Towncar and goin to the Grand Ol Opry every night with front row seats. Think about it Sister, and remember we love you , anyway. Your sister, Leona Steve Stickley 6/97 |
